The controversial warehouse planned for Riverside’s Northside will be reviewed by the city’s Planning Commission on Thursday, April 5, after a citizens group appealed.

The appeal of city officials’ approval of the 308,000-square-foot warehouse was filed Friday, March 2. A previous request by Councilman Mike Gardner had meant the City Council would review the warehouse April 10. But the Springbrook Heritage Alliance appealed to guarantee a public hearing and preserve legal options afterward, Chairwoman Karen Renfro said.

Because of the appeal, the warehouse will not be discussed at the April 10 City Council meeting. The Planning Commission’s decision can be appealed or referred to the Land Use Committee and City Council at a later date, Senior Planner Brian Norton said.

The warehouse would be built at Center Street across Placentia Lane from the Ab Brown Sports Complex and near the Trujillo Adobe. No specific tenant has been chosen.
