SAN JACINTO — The rider of a Yamaha off-road quad was killed Saturday when the vehicle struck a curb at the end of a cul de sac and was launched down an embankment, authorities said.
The crash was at 3:11 p.m. at Verona Avenue and Messina Drive, Riverside County sheriff’s Sgt. Robert Himmelberg said.
The Yamaha quad was northbound on Verona Avenue when it struck a curb and was launched over an embankment, Himmelberg said. “The quad landed in a parking lot and the rider was ejected.”

The quad rider was pronounced dead at the scene, he said.
The age and gender of the rider were not immediately available.
