A teacher at a San Bernardino County middle school was arrested Friday, April 6, after a student said he saw the teacher take images of a 13-year-old girl from under a classroom desk.
When San Bernardino County sheriff’s deputies investigated the report, they identified a second 13-year-old girl as a victim, a news release said.
John Martin Sheldon, 27, of Helendale, was arrested on suspicion of annoying or molesting a child under 18 and invasion of privacy. He was booked at High Desert Detention Center in Adelanto and then cited and released.
Sheldon teaches at Riverside Preparatory Middle School, an Oro Grande Unified school in Oro Grande north of Victorville.
On Friday, a student told a school administrator that he had seen Sheldon surreptitiously take a photograph or video. Investigators were contacted and learned a similar incident had happened involving Sheldon and female students in February, the release said.
Deputies interviewed several students and then arrested Sheldon, the release said.
Investigators believe there might be additional victims ask anyone with information to contact Detective Lisa Guerra at 909-387-3615 or anonymously report information to the We-Tip Hotline at 800-782-7463.
